William K. Furlong : Digital Media & Data Driven Marketing Strategist, Executive & Entrepreneur

Bill is a Serial Entrepreneur and most recently the SVP of Business Development, and part of founding team of Bizo, a Business Audience Data Management Platform firm.  In his role, Bill and his team work closely with independent advertising agencies and major agency Holding Companies, who are looking to help their brand customers reach and engage business professional audiences, wherever they travel online. Also, early on, he built Bizo’s publisher network of over 2800 vertical industry websites, and brokered new data service agreements with key Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, Dow Jones, and Time Warner.

Recently, Bill moved to a part time role at Bizo; and currently, also, serves as an Advisor and Investor with several Data Centric startups and early stage firms, such as Aginity, a big Data platform for Fortune 500 retailers, and FinancialAudiences, a Data Management Platform in the financial services industry. He serves on board of Municipal Media, an online ad network serving governmental web sites; Advanse, a dynamic creative ad serving system for online marketers; and Socilogica, a gaming/loyalty “Platform as a Service” provider for retailers.

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign – Urbana’s College of Communications, he received a B.A. in Communications and minored in Political Science.  He remains active in UIUC alumni association activities including the James Webb Young Trustee Board. He is also a Mentor with the Founder Institute, a global startup accelerator. He guest lectures at the University as well as at DePaul University, Northwestern Medill, and University of Chicago. He is also in the Chicago 16” Softball Hall of Fame, and a Second City Improvisational School Alumni.

Bill, his wife, and three children reside in Clarendon Hills, Illinois.

Bill Frischling : Owner @ WeatherBase / Product & Technology Head for Social Commerce @ Gannett

Bill Frischling is the founding owner of Weatherbase. com and is also the Sr. Director, Product Management – Social Commerce at Gannett.  Bill has more than a 20 years of experience on the Internet, with a specialty in launching major new products. He previously co-founded Dyscern, which grew from a startup through acquisition between 2004-2009. Prior to that, he has served as Executive Director of Product Development at America Online, where he led groups responsible for launching such products as My AOL, AOL Search and AOL Alerts and Reminders. Prior to America Online, he worked at The Washington Post, where was part of a small team that first launched on the Internet. Prior to The Washington Post, he was a reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer. His articles have appeared in such publications as The New York Times, Wired, Newsweek, The Washington Post, Newsday and The Detroit Free Press.

In his spare time, Bill has been coding weather algorithms and data cleansing models for Weatherbase, his personal passion project that feeds his deep interest in both meteorology and playing with terabyte-sized datasets. Almost entirely by accident, it is currently used by more than one million people annually.

Bill is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he received a degree in journalism. He is a father of three and lives in Great Falls, Virginia.

Brian Heller : Partner @ Outside GC

Brian is a Partner at Outside GC, an entrepreneurial law firm that is redesigning the business model for law firms in three core areas: virtual operations, “partners only” employees, and previous in-house experience.  His fellow team of senior business lawyers provide corporate counsel services as needed at a fraction of the cost of either hiring a full-time, executive-level general counsel or relying exclusively on law firm counsel. Clients typically develop a working relationship with one Outside GC lawyer and have access to the whole team for specific expertise.

Prior to Outside GC, Brian successfully helped sell his last company for $135 million.  As SVP Corporate Development & Business Development for GlobalSpec, a private equity owned b2b website, he was responsible for all M&A and strategic commercial deals. He helped prepare the company for sale and helped to find a buyer for a successful exit. As de facto General Counsel, he led all of their legal work.

Brian also has experience working in the digital media industry.  As VP Business Development at AOL, he managed a 13-person team that supported all transactions for all of AOL’s web properties, closing over 400 deals per year for over 75 different websites and brands.  As Assistant General Counsel at AOL, Brian managed team of 6 attorneys and 4 paralegals responsible for negotiating and drafting all advertising, e-commerce and search related transactions, worth approximately $1 billion in annual revenue.

Christine Flouton : Owner & Consultant @ Insigniam Performance

Insignium Performance is a management consulting firm specializing in breakthrough performance.  Christine is deeply immersed in the issues facing businesses today, and is dedicated to empowering people to lead their organizations to produce unprecedented business results.  Prior to her consulting career, Christine was in the advertising world, specializing in brand strategy and positioning.  In her spare time, she enjoys travel, attends almost all performance arts, including ballet, opera, and theatre, loves movies, and reluctantly works out five days a week.  Based in New York City, with three main airports, Christine is familiar with all the weather woes of the frequent traveler.

Doug Mashkuri : President & Founder @ Mash Digital Strategies LLC

Mash Digital Strategies LLC, is a digital media consulting company located in Arlington, VA.  As President, Doug provides strategic digital consulting services to companies including product development, social media strategy, monetization of current and new offerings, digital media sales training, web usability and web analytic analysis.   Doug has over 18 years experience in the new media/publishing arena.  Prior to launching Mash Digital Strategies, LLC, Doug was General Manager, E-Products for FCW Media Group.  In this position, Doug had overall P&L responsibility for the online division.  He also led e-product sales and new product development, and was responsible for forging strategic partnerships.   When he is not working, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing ice hockey and rooting for the New York Jets.

John Asbra : Sr Cloud Specialist @ Citrix 

Over the last 15 years John has been a sales leader with several leading technology companies in the Washington DC area.  Because of his experience with a wide variety of technology platforms John has the unique experience of understanding on how new and innovative technologies can play a vital role the development of a new start up. In addition to working for established companies John has also been involved with multiple start ups over the last 10 years.

Brett Wilkinson Director of Sales,  Middle Market Banking @ Primatics Financial

Primatics Financial is a software and financial services firm that delivers enterprise grade software solutions to the banking industry.  Throughout his career, Brett has helped clients solve challenges within their valuation, loan accounting, and reporting/disclosure needs.  With more than 10 years of experience, Brett specializes in bank M&A, 141R accounting, SOP 03-3 accounting, GAAP loan accounting, loan modeling and fair value, stress testing, scenario analysis, accounting and valuation software, outsourcing, bank technology, and software sales and marketing.  Brett is also an avid outdoorsman – he enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, long-distance biking, and skiing.

David Rosenbloom : Senior Technologist, Former CTO @ Linkstorm

David is a hands-on senior technologist with over 20 years development experience and 15 years team leadership.  As CTO of Linkstorm from 2008-2011, David guided and managed development of a multi-tier application suite for the internet advertising technology startup. He re-architected the system from ground up for performance, extensibility, and rapid development, leading to significant increase in performance metrics and client renewals, and triggering 7 straight quarters of revenue growth after two years of stasis.  David’s expertise includes: Ruby on Rails, C++, C, Java, SQL, networking, games, multi-threading, IPC, multimedia, migration from complex multi-tier Java/Spring/Hibernate/Icefaces stack to Akamai cloud-based high performance solutions that leverage Dynamic Content Assembly, back-ended by Ruby on Rails data generation, dynamic data updating, and management application suite.

Tina Kamalanathan : Director, Online Brand Marketing @ Hilton Worldwide

Embassy Suites is one of Hilton Worldwide’s 10 global hotel brands and boasts an all-suite offering for both business and leisure travelers.  Before joining Embassy Suites, Brand Marketing Team, Tina worked with several major ad agencies in New York City and developed expertise in all digital channels and tactics including website development, display advertising, online marketing campaigns, social networking, mobile advertising, brand strategy, and large scale web site development.  She has led cross-functional teams in conceiving and executing traditional and digital advertising campaigns that include branding and direct response channels such as online, mobile, print, direct mail and brand advertising.  Tina is an enthusiast of all things related to human behavior, design, brand identity, media, consumer consumption and trends.  In her free-time, Tina volunteers for All American Dachshund Rescue by finding new homes for rescued Miniature Dachshunds.  She is also an avid traveler.  When it comes to weather, as long as it’s sunny and hot outside, Tina is happy.
